If you're using Internet Explorer, you'll see that this example shows NewsLine in transparent mode: the background of the table-cell can be seen behind the text.

Using transparency makes the applet perform more slowly, and react to mouse movement a little slower, due to the large amount of extra processing the browser has to do.

We've set a different text color for each item, changed the font to Comic Sans MS, and removed the heading and border.
