1. Start with a large, high-resolution JPEG such as a good-quality digital camera shot. This will be your "Large" image. You will want to judge its size and quality against the time it will take to download into the applet, but a suggested size is about 1200x800 pixels.

2. Using a photo-editing program, resample the Large image to roughly one-fifth its current size (e.g. 240x160 pixels). This will be your "Small" image.

3. Resample the Large image again, this time to around one-twelfth its current size (e.g. 100x67). This will be your "Thumb".

(If you are using Zoom to display just one image, it doesn't load a thumbnail of the image, so you can skip step 3.)
