Zoom Overview
Zoom is an image-display utility designed to show high-resolution detail of JPEG images. Moving the mouse over a small version of an image displays the zoomed detail alongside. This is achieved by loading two versions of the image: a small version used to navigate around the picture, and a large version (perhaps 4 times the size) used to display the zoomed detail.

Zoom can be used to display just a single picture, or can load a scrolling gallery of thumbnails which allows the user to pick images to display and zoom. Zoom handles scaling (if necessary) and positioning of images automatically, and includes transparency options for compatible browsers.

Because the nature of Zoom is to load and display large high-resolution images, which may be several-hundred KB in size, it is best used on websites where users are expected to have broadband connections!
